Completed - Tyrrell P34

The Tyrrell P34 was the only six-wheeler F1 car to race. Tyrrell used this car from the fourth (Depailler) and fifth (Scheckter) race onwards in the 1976 season and the entire 1977 season. My car depicts South African Jody Scheckter’s car as raced in the 1976 Japanese Grand Prix held at the Fuji Speedway. This was the final race in the 1976 season. The rear wing on my model was only ever used by Scheckter in Japan: it was never used at any of the other races and Patrick Depailler, Jody’s teammate, never used it.
To build this model I have converted it from the Tamiya kit of the 1977 Monaco version, requiring completely new markings and some different body parts. I have also used aftermarket resin tyres as Japan was a wet race, replacing the kit’s slicks.
